Just another reminder that we have to be diligent about reading labels.

About 20 years ago I worked in a restaurant and their honey mustard sauce didn't have honey or mustard, but it was delicious, and their chicken fingers were outstanding. (not real chicken fingers either)

One of the best pumpkin pies I ever ate was made with sweet potatoes & butternut squash, not pumpkin

Fine by me...pumpkins belong on the front porch with scary faces as far as I'm concerned.

okay....

anyways....

all spice has been used to give foods pumpkin flavors for a long time. this is what separates good pumpkin beers from crappy ones, you can tell when they dont even use real all spice, let alone pumpkin.

best pumpkin flavor is of course pumpkin, add a touch of nutmeg, cinnamon, etc.

That would be sweet potatoe pie. Taste somewhat like pumpkin pie and looks very simular, but is not the same.

You could say the same thing for strawberry, blueberry, watermelon, grape, etc. flavor.

A lot of items in vogue today are pumpkin spice flavor, not necessarily pumpkin flavor.
