I know it is a tad bit early but this is my favorite time of year. My mom has finally passed the torch to me to cook it this year. for the last 45 years she has cooked Thanksgiving. It will be at my house and just her myself and my husband. She will stay over and help. It will be nice to not have to travel even though she is only 30 minutes away.

Turkey probably 10-15 lbs we like leftovers
Stuffing
Potato pie
Broccoli bake
Cranberry sauce
Gravy
Artichoke pie
Homemade apple cake
Vanilla Ice cream
Pumpkin bread

No green beans casserole this time. I have made so many times throughout the year I am actually tired of it.
I have not had the broccoli bake in about 10 years.

The meal is usually traditional, but this year, the house will either be on the market or sold. If we’re getting showings, I don’t need a house that smells like cooking and a fridge full of leftovers. We’ll eat out or buy a prepared dinner. If the house is sold, it’s Turkey, mashed potatoes, a veggie side, cranberry sauce, gravy, and desert, usually pumpkin cheesecake. Spouse is watching his carbs, so no stuffing and bread.

I want to go out to eat. Too much work for just us. I might cook a turkey tenderloin the day after.

I'll be making an effort to get my niece to host it in her home.

In our extended family she has the largest house by square footage and she handled Easter this year. She's trying to avoid hosting Thanksgiving, as she finds cooking a turkey for the entire family rather intimidating. We did a Thanksgiving at my place two years ago, and the verdict was that my place was too small. Having a living room that's only 14x12 and no dining room made it kind of tight for eight people.

All we know so far is deep fried turkey, and sous vide ham.

We'll definitely have turkey, stuffing, gravy, and some kind of vegetable. Probably creamed onions, as well.

Not sure. We usually celebrate at my in-laws' house, and my MIL always makes a turkey. We have a couple of vegetarians in the family, so there will be stuffed spaghetti squash and other vegetarian sides. My daughter will make home-made biscuits, which are a family tradition. I'll probably contribute some sort of green bean dish and an apple pie.

I'm not sure what we will have but we are definitely FINALLY getting rid of the green bean casserole. Over the past decade I have at variousl times "switched it up" by making my own mushroom sauce for it rather than the Campbells soup.

It was about 55 years ago that my mother moved away fom the creamed peas with baby onions and replaced it with the green bean casserole. That was during the period when processed food was "king."

Everyone in our family loves asparagus and we have tons of it from our garden in our freezer. I think that's what we can replace it with, with no complaints.

I started consciously listening to the "Oh yums" around the holiday tables a few years back. Thee were plenty of "Oh yums" to the turkey, the stuffing, the sweet potatoes, potatoes and gravy, stuffing, breads, desserts, etc., but I never heard anyone saying "oh yum, the gloppy green bean casserole."

Asparagus is much better than green bean casserole!
