Another Vernor's fan here from Ohio originally. I remember the first time I tasted a Canada Dry Ginger Ale. I thought I'd gotten a bad can. There's no taste. It doesn't tingle your nose as you drink it.
We'll can't help you there... I thought kmarts were everywhere still. Same with dollar tree and world market.
Still going with my original opinion that Dads and Vernors are no longer just a regional drink. I've gotten both while living on the West Coast, in the South, and the Midwest. And I know my SO had both when he used to live in Florida.

I've had 5 of these. Cheerwine is my favorite. I love Cheerwine and Honda Accords, lol. I have this OCD thing where I think Cheerwine tastes better if it's left (unopened, in a case) in a 2008 or newer Accord for a few days, so I always leave Cheerwine in the trunk of my car after I get it. It's a 2011 Accord V6, by the way

Vernors was originally produced in the city of Detroit and if generally most popular in the 100 mile radius of that area. You will easily find the product in MI, OH and IN.
The brand is currently owned by the Dr. Pepper - Snapple Group. Dr. Pepper bottlers have the option of producing Vernors based on local demand. If the local market will support it, you will find Vernors in that market.
Personally, it has been a while since I have seen Vernors. You don't see it much in Chicago.
Strawberry Crush is the best thing ever. Also, my great grandmother lived to be 98 and drank bottled Cokes all day long. So...yeah.
Like many foods, what your granny got to ingest does not remotely resemble the additive laden crap we are saddled with.
