I was just wondering if these birds had their amputations before or after they died.
Seems these birds got caught up in some aspect of the processing equipment which i can well imagine after working for 30+ years in the dairy processing industry.

most chicken sold in the u.s. is grade a
however there is a lower grade we call "line run" which is still excellent chicken but just not the same uniform size, or there is a skin tear, or very light bruising and it is cheaper

with the billions of chickens and turkeys on the process line, im sure there are rips and tears, and they are thrown in the "utility" lines
