It's odd, I always assumed the assortments and actually any frozen appetizers were crap. I guess I thought Trader Joe's "not-the-big-brands" would be good and they are! Don't know why.
TJ's actually seems to pay attention to what they sell. I was told by one of their workers that the Kung Pao Chicken I like was sent back to the vendor several times before it was approved for sale. I definitely like the fact that most of the workers (at least in my local store) at TJ's are quite knowledgeable about their products and offer honest reviews.

The mini pies/tarts are also surprisingly good -- strawberry, blueberry and peach, six to a pack. I normally don't care for frozen pastry stuff, but these were really good.

I like frozen appetizers. Target and Whole Foods have some good ones as well.

TJ's has "vegetable nests" which are excellent. I'm trying to figure out how to duplicate them as there's not much there for $3.69 but it's something that can be served with almost any non-Asian dish.

The one out in Greenwood Village at Orchard and S. University. And I think the cheap wine is at the other location. For non-Coloradans, only one store in a chain can carry wine, 6% beer and hard liquor. It keeps grocery stores from competing with liquor stores. We do have some odd laws.

Costco.

Trader Joes is too overpriced for me anymore. Not like 5 or ten years ago.

Yeah they still have a few well priced items, two buck chuck or is it three buck now, and a few others. For the most part though just another trendy upscale shop.

Sorry TJ you lost me along the way. Still like the fearless flyer ad though for bathroom fodder.

Trader joe....trader joe....try some other store like Aldi or Lotte...or simply the Pakistani store in your town...you'll be amazed on what possibilities you can find to put on your table and some exotism to try.

Chinese takeout is an excellent source for appetizers: riblets, dumplings, spring rolls, egg rolls, shrimp toast. Also sushi bars for gyoza and assorted maki. It's what we do now for Christmas and New Year parties, after a horrible experience with frozen poppers that tasted like bathroom mold.

Yes, more $$. They're not frozen but they are better than anything you'd get at TJ et al.
