My family drinks only sparkling water, and I purchase it by the case at Costco at a very reasonable price. But the waste of the bottles bothers my conscience because we go through several cases every week.
Soda streams are great....if I want flavored ones I use ome of the flavor syrups from soda stream...or some times a bit of mio ....but moat times just plain.
I bought a soda stream so I could enjoy flavoured water without the additives. I flavour mine with fresh fruit and its delicious. Have to say most of the commercial flavours I've tried tasted pretty bad.
I got my soda stream used for cheap but the refills on the C02 are quite pricy
It is about $10 for the refills and it lasts us for a few months. I wouldn't say it's pricy. It's $24 of you want a new filled tank but we just swap ours. And we also use a store coupon so it's usually $8.
I looked around and found several different brands. Besides the Soda Stream, Hamilton Beach makes one called The Fizzini, Cuisinary, KitchenAid, and Williams-Sonoma also.
I saw a setup in a magazine that had a larger tank but I haven't been able to find one like this. I would prefer that rather than the small CO2 cartridges that the Soda Stream uses.
I'm not interested in making soda at all, just plain sparkling water.
We use our Soda Stream daily (had it 3-4 years) to make sparkling water. The replacement CO2 canisters aren't bad; we usually exchange them at Bed, Bath, and Beyond, who mail us coupons all the time. I usually drink it with lemon or lime squeezed in.
My husband puts Mia or other water flavor drops in his, but I don't like those.
