Anyone know what this is? Never come across it before and I've bought plenty of the same pork loins before.

Looks like a pop-up thermometer--the red part is supposed to pop up when the meat is cooked through properly. I've seen them in some poultry, but I wouldn't vouch for their accuracy.

It's a pop up thermometer. Should be cooking instructions on the bag, but when that little red bugger pops up- the meat is cooked to the recommended temp. (usually overcooked to my tastes, lol).

Yep. Like the others said, it's a pop up thermometer. But frankly, I'd throw it away and use a real meat thermometer.

You've never seen one of those before? Almost every frozen turkey has them nowadays....and yes...I rely on a REAL thermometer!

pop up timer. Maybe in other countries they don't have them in roasts or turkey's?

we often see them in turkeys and chicken roasters and some places put them in beef and pork roasts

You are lucky to have a German deli!
I was very confused by the 1st picture but yes, it's a pop-up thermometer and since you messed with it don.t trust it as the other posters said.
