But on a public forum with international membership, what's the point in mentioning that the local sandwich shop has changed ownership and the food is no longer edible? .
Why not? My local deli closed a few years ago, and I still miss the place. Next best place is eight miles away. There are many between here and there, but the food isn't very good. At least, not to me.
Retriever mentioned Applebee's being lousy. There is an Applebee's near our home in which we are vascillating on whether to abandon because of inconsistent food taste. The store has recently been taken over by a new manager who behaves like a drill sergeant with the employees, and the turnover has increased, but the service and food quality has as well, even though new employees are coming and going a lot, possibly because of his approach with them.
Applebee's has a great $2.99 drink special on their Long Island Iced Teas and Bahama Mamas and you can get those anytime. That's amazingly cheap for alcoholic beverages, especially since they are very liberal with the booze, even though it's a mix, and they taste great, so sometimes my wife takes me to watch the game. I get plastered and play on my phone while she hoots and hollers at every other play On Mondays they have a $6.99 hamburger and endless fries deal. Unfortunately, even with the new manager, a simple burger doesn't always turn out well, and last time we had to send back the incredibly salty fries for a replacement. With the good drinks, the hamburger special, and now decent service, that's what keeps us going back. We never order anything else.
Even though objectively the food is probably not that great, I've always liked Applebee's. As a kid it was my favorite restaurant, aside from the Chinese buffet.
