I don't drive intentionally for steak, though I will fly for one!

And you have a helicopter? That makes sense.

"Hey Patrolman, can we fly out for a steak tonight?" "No, I'm busy tonight. How about tomorrow?" OK. Bummer, but I can give myself a pedicure tonight so that I can wear sandals.

Every time I have a ribeye at the AA Bar & Grill in Eureka CA it is the best steak I've ever had. They know how to do a char.

I'd have an easier time naming the worst one. So many restaurants do steak amazingly well these days. In recent memory, the best ones I've had while out were at Red (Cleveland), Lola (Cleveland), St. Elmo's (Indy), Gene & Georgetti (Chicago), BLT Prime (NYC), The Palm (Las Vegas) and Guard & Grace (Denver). All are a little different, all are great.

#1 It was years ago at Morton's in San Diego....spouse was an award winner at work, & the company invited recipients & SO for dinner, whatever you wanted, cocktails & appetizers thru dessert, no limit (as yes, the good old days). Everything was fabulous, but that medium-rare Porterhouse was the big O for me...

#2. Rib eye at Idle Spurs.

2. Ruth's Chris in Savannah, GA while in vacation with my wife two years ago. The best Filet Mignon I've ever had. Tried to recreate it here in a NY Ruth's Chris and it was no where near as good.

3. The Elbow Room in Jamesport, NY. The marinated porterhouse the first time I ordered it back about 20 years ago. I've been back since but like a lot of things it's was never as good as the first time.
Make that 4:

1. Peter Luger's in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The best porterhouse I've ever had. I can't believe I forgot about that one though it was also about 15 or so years ago. Senior moment I guess.(Thanks to MATTIE for the reminder!)

Ribeye cooked on my backyard grill.

I've never been to a high end steakhouse though.

Hacienda Real in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Most memorable meal of my life and I only remember the steak. It was Argentinian cut steak and it was the most tender and buttery piece of meat I have ever put into my mouth. Have never found something that is close to it here in the states.
