My new favorite spice. Oh my gosh is it wonderful! Not what I expected, which was a tongue-melting mouth fire. Definitely hot, really hot, but mellowed with cocoa, which gives it a delicious richness and depth of flavor. A little goes a long way, so start with just a few grains and work your way up. Great in chili or sprinkled on popcorn. Anybody else tried it?

Never heard of. Is not anything I have seen in Kroger's spice section. (yes, I know...limited) Where do you purchase such? What kind of food do you prepare using it?

I bought it through a specialty spice shop called The Savory Spice Shop, and I think it may be a proprietary blend. As I stated above, I add a tiny bit to chili and also to buttered popcorn. My vegetarian daughter uses it when making tofu scramble. I also think it would be excellent on eggs or mac & cheese. Anywhere you might use pepper sauce, red chili flakes, hot paprika, or chili powder.

Note: I'm referring to ghost pepper salt, not straight ghost pepper, which will make you very sick and can damage to your GI tract. Never eat a raw ghost pepper. You'll regret it.

what's spicy to one person is not to another. Trader Joes sells straight up dried ghost pepper in a grinder and I can put about 10 twists of the grinder on my food and have a pleasant heat

I think dried ghost pepper is less intense then raw peppers. Same thing with hot sauces. I eat Melinda's Ghost Pepper sauce with chips the way most people eat salsa. That sauce is cut with carrots and onions but my wife can't even have one drop of that stuff and I'll have half a bottle in one sitting (and only because I'm restraining myself from finishing the entire bottle)

It's not proprietary. Salt Works and others sell it (you can find several on amazon).

Ghost pepper salt is not proprietary, but I'm under the impression that the cocoa-pepper blend is a specialty of the shop where I bought it.

Sounds good. Would be nice on sautéed greens, on meat you like spicy and to wake up a soup.
