So, my wife went to drop off our kid at a friend's house and I threw some rice and water in an all clad pot. I went upstairs, then an hour later I noticed it smelled like smoke in the house.

Yes, the rice is now black rice instead of brown and the inside of the pot looks dark but the outside looks fine.

Is this salvagable or should I throw the pot out? I know my wife spent hundreds on the ALL Clad pots and pans and won't be happy.

Anyone know how to save this or is it best to throw out?

A little Bon Ami or Barkeeper's Friend should fix it right up.
For really serious burned on crusts try oven cleaner.

Depending just how bad it is, baking soda and water and a gentle scrub may suffice.

put water in it and heat it back up, not to boiling, just warm. Will take the burned stuff off like a dream. Also add dish soap to the water

If I were in your shoes, I would likely prepare to buy her a new All-Clad pot, and while I was at it, I would buy a few cheapie pieces for myself. Inattention and cooking stuff do not mix well. I am living proof.
