I'm looking for some help here. I have only had lamb a few times in greek recipes (kabobs and gyros) and did not care for the flavor of the meat AT ALL. I'm getting Blue Apron meals and one of the options is a beef/lamb burger. I'm wondering if the addition of beef will mask the very strong taste (to me) of the lamb and make it more mild? I'm torn, I like exploring new foods and trying new flavors but otoh if the lamb will still strongly overwhelm the beef I don't want to waste my money on something I'll throw away after one bite.
I realize there is no definitive answer but all opinions are welcomed.

My wife doesn't care for lamb, but she'll eat a gyro made with that lamb/beef concoction sold in many gyro shops.

One of my favorite burgers of all time (at a bar/restaurant here in Seattle) is an all lamb burger...granted, it is well seasoned/spiced, but...

FWIW, I've had a few different experiences w/the flavor of lamb. It should have a distinct flavor of it's own, but be mild enough that it wouldn't overpower other ingredients. Slightly older lamb, or mutton (adult sheep) is known to have a stronger, more pungent flavor that isn't for everyone, so it's possible that's what you had.

I've eaten lamb a few times (burgers, kabobs, etc) in the past, and the flavor was overpowering for my tastes. I've also eaten a lamb-beef burger (don't know the amount of each meat in the burger) and did not care for it.

I love lamb, and eat it often. If you go into this thinking "the other times I've had lamb, it was awful," this will be awful, too. That said, as others have pointed out, when it's combined in some interesting way (gyro meat) people will enjoy it. I'd say, go into it with an open mind and some tatziki sauce.

Well I know that mixing meats can definitely change the taste of something, love a beef pork mixture, just wasn't sure if lamb would work the same or if it would just come through as tasting only of lamb. The recipe comes with a lime mayo sauce which sounds... interesting? I think I'll give it a go and make sliders, if I don't like them I'll pass them off to my co-workers, lol.

Since it is a burger, I doubt there would be much " burger meat" on a lamb as the cuts are way too valuable $$$$$$$ to be sold for ground lamb.

If you are getting mutton burgers, I can see why the taste would be bad.

Older cows are great for hamburger but older sheep ( mutton ) are good for nothing . (IMHO )

No clue, it is simply described as a mix of lamb and beef. I'll have a back up meal ready just in case.

I've mixed the two--it does make the lamb milder in flavor. I love 100% lamb burgers, but sometimes make them 50-50 if I only have a pound of ground lamb & need 2 pounds of meat.

I'd also buy some tzasiki for a sauce. And give them the choice like you normally would with ketchup, onions, mustard, etc.
