It depends. Unless it's an absolutely terrible experience, or I try something a place is known for doing well and don't enjoy it, I usually give a place at least two chances.

Thankfully, I've generally been pretty happy with my first experience at most restaurants. The ones which really stand out are the ones I tend to return to.

I'd love to pretend that i have high standards and say NO! But I've gone back to a restaurant to give them a chance. There is one in my area that is always crowded and good ambiance...but the food is awful.

There is also an "Italian" place in my neighborhood that gave me awful pizza and food swimming in grease. Them never again. I flash the place an evil eye every time I pass it (hyperbole).

maybe... depends on their menu options. I like restaurants with a good dose of menu choices to pick from. I don't really go to the same restaurant twice bc there so many restaurants around my area to visit and eat at

That's how I view new places, too. I only wouldn't go back to a place, if I had an extremely bad experience(rarely though) my first time there. Usually my rule for restaurants is 2 strikes at most, and they are out. There are so many that exist in the Chicago area, that life is too short to waste them at a restaurant/bar with bad food.

Probably not. Too many other restaurants to try, not enough time to try them all. It depends. for more experimental or foods I'm not familiar with, perhaps. Some food I just don't like so if it's something completely different that I've never had, I might go back and try something else. Eg, I had haggis for the first time in Europe. It's disgusting. Being American, however, unless you slaughter your own sheep you aren't going to ever have haggis as it's illegal. So would I go back there? Yes. I just wouldn't get haggis again.
