Just thought about this, and I realized that Jesus would probably just eat the spam! I'd bet he's not a picky eater. I'm dying to try spam musubi...maybe with Turkey spam. They slaughter turkeys relatively humanely. Is that one good?
Every now and then I get a craving for Spam and just bought two cans recently Orig Spam low sodium and Turkey Spam...I just sauteed chunks of orig spam and broccoli in coconut oil, and pretty yummy.
I LOVE Spam - dates back to my childhood. I do get the lower fat but I've never even seen the turkey Spam. It's maybe a couple times a year. A can makes into 8 slices so only 4 meals and I figure it's worth it as one of those sinful pleasures. There are far worse things in life...but not that many things are better.
We never had Spam growing up; my dad spent 20 years in the Marines and refused to eat canned meat ever again. (Just the opposite of Wartrace's dad).
I've liked it when I've had it since, but don't usually eat red meat, so haven't had it in years.
Did you check the sodium content of the various types of Spam? As I recall, the low-fat version had crazy sodium.
I have not tried "Turkey Spam" yet. Is it as good as the "Original Spam"?
Original Spam is great with cabbage too. One can usually lasts me a while. I slice it thinly and brown the slices on both sides, let cool and store the remainder in a ziploc inside the freezer. I mix a few slices with ground turkey (chicken, beef, pork) to give the meat patties better flavor.

From what I have seen and read Hawaii has one of the highest amounts of Spam consumption.
Personally I don't think I have had any for about 50 years at the age of 6.
An article mentioning the Hormel corporation's support of Allied troops in WWII, and the subsequent spread of long-shelf life, preserved meat throughout remote Pacific locales, including Hawaii, Samoa, Guam, etc.
There is an annual ethnic food festival in my city where the Samoan booth gets mobbed every year because of their Spam musubi and Loco Moco.
Spam is alright (not the turkey version; that's gross), but it's a tad too salty and greasy for me, which is saying a lot, given my love of salty, greasy stuff. I'm not opposed to potted meats in general. I'm all about the Underwood deviled ham. The flavor of Spam doesn't put me off, but the slightly spongey texture is meh.
