How bad is it to eat peaches from the can after they've been sitting in refridgerator for 3 weeks OPENED? Probably not too good, right lol? I take the lid off completely and cover with plastic wrap held on with a rubber band so it's sealed real good and peaches APPEARED fine but man after putting 4 or 5 of them in a blender with milk, slimfast + protein powder it tasted like I was drinking the lead can which I probably was lol. Probably best to put them in a plastic container after opened i guess. Still got lead can taste in the back of my throat so won't be doing that anymore

I've heard you should never store stuff in the refrigerator in a can. I do not know why really, it is just what I have been told.

I hear that too. But I've never left the can in there for three weeks either. I know I need to use it within 3 DAYS.

The can isn't lead. But it still doesn't make the food taste any better if you store it that way.

Don't store food in an opened tin can, or re-use empty cans to cook or store food. This is because when a can has been opened and the food is open to the air, the tin from the can might transfer more quickly to the can's contents.

If you open a can (of anything) and don't finish it, tranfer the leftovers in a plastic (or even better glass) container, put the lid and refrigerate. But I would keep it a couple of days, not weeks

I'm with MoItaly on that one. 3 weeks is way too long, IMO.

It sounds like you're using those canned peaches for a protein shake....I wouldn't recommend canned peaches if you're trying to eat better and take care of your health, since the canned variety have too much sugar. The canned peaches keep their shape so nicely because they are harvested when they are still hard as pomegranates, then boiled, sugared, and altered beyond recognition. If fresh peaches are not available or too expensive (off season) use frozen ones - you will actually have more peach flavor with none of the added sugar/corn syrup.

JMHO.

Canned peaches are also available packed in water.
