Being Good Friday we are having fish. To be honest we are not really having it because it is good Friday. We are having it cause we want it. I am doing mussels over pasta with a wine and garlic sauce. Of course, what is any pasta dish with out a great green salad. And yes, a glass or two of vino.
Warm day here in Northern California, grilling this evening. Have some Korean style beef short ribs ("Kalbi") marinating. Served with a salad and steamed rice.
Tonight we are having Italian shellfish stew (clams, scallops, whitefish, shrimp)
toasted garlic bread, antipasto salad, and coconut cream cheesecake for dessert. Only 2 more days until I can drink wine again!
Forget Easter brunch mimosas, I'm going straight for a tequila sunrise!

Mussels with white wine, garlic, butter, hot pepper flakes, toasted fennel seeds. and sliced grape tomatoes.
Tomatoes and garlic are sliced and sautéed in a bit in butter and EVOO.
tomatoes get soft and are smooshed down a little, fennel seed, white wine, pepper flakes are added brought to a boil..mussels are added..
pan is covered til all mussels are opened.
chopped cilantro for garnish.
Left over toasted sliced baguette from last night for dipping the sauce.
Pinot Grigio
dessert is sliced papaya and German chocolate bars.
It’s cool and rainy today. I’m making beef stew, with rosemary and sea salt rolls. The kids are visiting again, and I never know for sure how many for dinner. With stew it doesn’t matter who eats, or when.
