Going to our daughter and SILs for Christmas dinner. We are having a special green salad, prime rib and ham, scalloped potatoes, broccoli, and desserts. I just want to bring home some of her prime rib: love the stuff if not over cooked. Last year she did over cook it. Still we will have a fun family day.

*Merry Christmas to you all*

Tonight I will serve Cornish game hens stuffed with apples, onion and curly parsley, rubbed with melted butter and black pepper/salt.They will bathe in red wine until they are all happy and call out for us. Served with garlic mashed potatoes and a bit of sour cream,a choice of Sauerkraut or German braised red cabbage and cranberry chutney.
Home baked beer bread and German Bauernbrot to clean the sauce off the plate. To drink a variety of beer choices from Stella Artois,Löwenbräu,Holsten,Münchner Gold,Guinness,La Fin Du Monde or Erdinger beer or Ribena black currant syrup with Perrier water. For some whose button is about to pop we got Akvavit or Enzian Schnapps.

More snacking on Christmas cookies with coffee or Glühwein is a possibility.

Overthick pork chops stuffed with smoked ham/cheese, off the grill and glazed with Lingham's sauce, crunchy garlic bread (I started adding 1/2 cup stone ground cornmeal to Foccaccia) and a big green salad.
Maybe some bacon wrapped water chestnuts or paperthin sliced Spanish chorizo and olives as appetizer.

I am soooo stuffed from the Christmas brunch I made of sausage patties & gravy, biscuits, scrambled eggs, and fresh squeezed orange juice. We're heading out soon to an open house which will have snacks.

The darn baby has compressed my stomach into something smaller than it's usual self, so there may not be any dinner at all!

Maybe some fruit and a glass of milk. Oh, and let's not forget I returned from Christmas Eve dinner with half of a NY cheesecake.

Merry Christmas friends!
