I don't understand why companies change there names, especially when they change to something stupid. My former mortgage company changed their name from Nationstar to get this, "Mr. Cooper"
Is it a good idea or bad idea? Well, everyone is correct that it's gotten them talked about and on the minds of people when perhaps they hadn't been..
But.. It's not necessarily been in a good way. Which is the problem in my eyes. You know.. The landscape is littered with companies that had great ideas that got a buzz from the public. They've gotten quite a bit of trolling over it. Not only from Wendy's and other fast food locations (Burger King actually changed their twitter profile to "Pancake King" which.. Yeah, that was clever)
New Coke is the go-to example, though.. that actually wound up being a positive to a negative to a positive situation.
Is this a company destroying bad idea? no.. Of course not. Might they have done better with a less.. "Screwy" idea?
It sounds like a bad business move to me, breakfast and coffee is the only reason I ever go there! I have never ordered a hamburger at IHOP. It just seems like a very expensive move to change all of their signs and everything else that they’ll have to put the new logo on.

IHOP and Waffle House are not limited to pancakes and waffles. It has been awhile since I dined at IHOP. I have been going to Waffle House for years to enjoy burgers. As prices at Waffle House have increased this year, I have reduced my number of visits and going elsewhere.
As IHOP is promoting burgers, I will stop by a restaurant this week.
There is justification, based on trends in Americans' eating habits. Low-carb diet enthusiasts won't eat pancakes, but they'll happily gorge on burgers.
And at the extreme end of that spectrum, I know plenty of people at my workplace doing keto diets. Before the emphasis on burgers, they probably wouldn't have set foot in IHOP.

Well, here we are posting about it. So whatever they're doing, it's working. Get the message out that IHOP is more than pancakes.

exactly. They couldn't buy the amount of publicity they've gotten - people talking on online forums, facebook, twitter, etc.
