This isn't just for certain areas. It's for the entire country.

Romaine lettuce not safe to eat, should be thrown away immediately

Quote:
“Consumers who have any type of romaine lettuce in their home should not eat it and should throw it away, even if some of it was eaten and no one has gotten sick,” the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said in an announcement.

The outbreak could be linked to all types of romaine lettuce, including whole heads of romaine, hearts of romaine, and bags and boxes of precut lettuce and salad mixes that contain romaine, such as baby romaine, spring mix, and Caesar salad.
(I ate a salad with romaine lettuce yesterday)

Yeah, I just saw this. Glad you posted. I’ll need to throw out some Romaine, I think.

Bummer.

Funny, I just came to post the same thing. Daughter is making a salad for Thanksgiving. My mother just warned her not to bring romaine.

And yeah, I like romaine. I eat it almost exclusively.

I hadn't heard - thanks for posting. I'm really annoyed though, I'm on a very limited budget for food shopping and now this is the 3rd time? (maybe more?) that I've had to do this.

Awesome, time to get them on the cheap. Romaine taste pretty good if you cook them quickly and put it in ice water to retain crispiness.

Lol I eat romaine twice a day in my salads. Just had some for lunch. Gotta rinse and clean it with water.

Rinsing doesn't help what's inside (i.e. - the water it has it that it used to grow with)

Here is the link to the CDC Food Safety Alert:

Until today, we have eaten romaine lettuce every day since the "all clear" after the last romaine lettuce outbreak.
