Gotta go to work (ugh), but wanted to chime in that if you do go to Wisconsin, get a "cheese map" and hit different cheese places. A friend of mine and I did that. Just stop in somewhere (anywhere) and the friendly people will give you a tour of how they make the cheese, give samples and you can buy some. My friend tried cheese curds for the first time and thought it was very squeaky!
I used to live a couple blocks away from this place in Cambridge, MA that often held cheese classes, so that might be something you'd be interest in to meet other cheese lovers. Maybe they have cheese festivals occasionally as well, not sure.
Have a few books but would love to try out a festival. I had tickets to one in Wisconsin but had to cancel....
Tell your experiences and recommendations...for cheeses and for festivals, no matter where...
There's lots of local British Cheese Festivas including the Great British Cheese Festival in Cardiff as well as British Cheese Awards at the Royal Bath and West Show and International Cheese Awards held in Cheshire in England.

Incredible, I'd be in cheese heaven....
but I don't believe I'll get to GB any time soon....
LOL - they take cheese reallt seriously, indeed Britain alone now produces close to 1,000 different varieties of cheese, never mind the rest of Europe.

No. Because anything after that would be a letdown.
