Neither a festival nor an event, but if you can get to a Lidl, they have a really good selection of cheeses.

Gotta go to work (ugh), but wanted to chime in that if you do go to Wisconsin, get a "cheese map" and hit different cheese places. A friend of mine and I did that. Just stop in somewhere (anywhere) and the friendly people will give you a tour of how they make the cheese, give samples and you can buy some. My friend tried cheese curds for the first time and thought it was very squeaky!

I used to live a couple blocks away from this place in Cambridge, MA that often held cheese classes, so that might be something you'd be interest in to meet other cheese lovers. Maybe they have cheese festivals occasionally as well, not sure.

LOL - they take cheese reallt seriously, indeed Britain alone now produces close to 1,000 different varieties of cheese, never mind the rest of Europe.

Seriously, OP, since you live in NC, it is just a hop, skip, and a jump up to Richmond.

Cheeses from all over the world for the tasting. Every kind of Gouda, Chèvre, cheddar, ... you can imagine.

It is heavenly.

No. Because anything after that would be a letdown.
