Mother-in-law delivered some thick roast beef slices from her Sunday lunch so we had them on toasted sourdough with some horseradish sauce washed down with a couple of bottles of ice-cold Pouilly-Fuissé.
Delicious and simple.
DH and I split a big steak that he put on our outside grill. I sautéed some mushrooms and onion with olive oil, garlic oil, and a tad bit of butter. Side dishes: Amish macaroni salad and/or potato & egg salad. Ice tea.
Sister decided on a theme for Labor Day weekend. Today was Mom's labor in delivering her kids. We all had to contribute a dish from the year we were born.
Final menu was:
Chicken a la King, served over egg noodles
Sautéed red cabbage
Pickled beets
Cucumber, onion and bacon salad
Sangria gelatin mold (wine, club soda, Jell-0, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries and grapes)
Pineapple upside down cake
Home made cherry vanilla ice cream and blueberry ice cream
Adapting the dishes to Sister and my medical requirements was surprisingly easy, and it was all amazingly good.
