Several of our restaurants are offering dinner for 2. It is cheaper than 2 separate meals, but works just fine for us.
I saw a sign the other day outside a small Italian place I've never been to. If you buy a takeout meal there, they will provide one to a healthcare worker. I thought that was nice. I took a pic of the sign with the phone number, and I'm going to check out what they have to offer.
I wanted to post an update plus thank everyone for your great suggestions.
Since posting, we have ordered a "family meal" from a local Peruvian chicken place. The meal came with 6 pieces of chicken plus 4 side dishes. We got 2 meals out of it and not only that, still had enough chicken left for another meal. I shredded and froze the remaining chicken and plan to use it in a recipe.
We ordered 2 subs and 2 calzones from a sub/pizza/calzone place. We ate the subs last night and plan to have the calzones tonight. If we find that we are full after eating half of a calzone, we will save the leftovers for tomorrow.
Also, we ordered 2 meals from a Salvadoran restaurant plus we got 4 pupusas. We ate the meals one night and saved the pupusas for the next night. This restaurant has excellent prices for their food so things worked out well.
Lucky those who have access to many local places. We have fewer choices of those kinds of places.
We bought fried chicken today from our local grocer. It is a little too oily for my taste, and more so than usual. But it is the best fried chicken in the area. You can get several pieces and some dinner items as well. I am not a fan of their mashed potatoes, but the chicken is pretty good.
