What is this item? Kitchen? Sewing? Other? (making, where, object)

Can anyone identify this object for me?
We just cleaned out a kitchen drawer, and unearthed this. I have no clue where it came from, or what it is used for.

It might just be a part to something - if you haven't EVER used it, obviously, toss it

I just did a Google search by image/find similar images, as well as other image search programs. It came up with nothing, which would usually lead me to believe that it is probably just a part to something. But I'm with you - I wouldn't pitch it yet either.

Looks like a net making/netting shuttle made of bone or plastic, depending on its age.

I'll guess sewing or some sort of fiber art. It reminds me of a bodkin but I don't think that's what it is.
