Just had a thought - I am sure for many of us, eating out was a form of socializing and celebrating. So in the current times, have you been cooking any special meals at home? Upgraded over your everyday fare. Maybe a special recipe or special ingredients? Maybe you are spending more time on presentation for these special meals too?

We make meals with "special" ingredients quite often. We generally don't have the same dish within a 2 month period.

I would not say so much ' Fancy ' for me but rather tedious and well worth the effort.

The last two were, Chicken Kiev on a bed of Wild Rice Pilaf & Braciole

Barely know how to cook, fancy meals are not in my brain-database, so no fancy meals for me.

Yes, I do spend more time to make meals special while we’re isolating at home. Even for relatively humble meals, we eat in the dining room, using inherited china & silver, and there’s a floral arrangement when our roses are producing. The extra effort to make every meal an occasion makes a difference in my outlook.

No. I cook the same things I always did; I just do it more often these days. Two days ago I roasted a chicken. We’ve been eating chicken! I’ve now got a carcass to cook for chicken broth.

Tomorrow we’ll grill pork chops. We don’t eat fancy. I think we do eat well.

Making pretty much “standard” meals at home, ordering nice cuisine (Indian, Mexican, Chinese, Cuban and Thai) when the mood hits.

No, not really. Our meals tend to be seasonal. Lots of grilling meat and veggies in the summer. Lots of soups and and baked or crock pot meals in colder months.

No. I eat the same things repeatedly. Simple, close-to-nature foods. Can't beat a ripe apple or juicy mango, in my book.

Yesterday I had low fat cottage cheese w/canned no-sugar peaches. And an apple. And a grapefruit. Dinner was microwaved Italian green beans w/light margarine & imitation bacon chips.

Day before I had chicken sandwich w/low-cal wheat bread, home cooked leftover chicken breast, lettuce & tomato. And apple. And strawberries. And microwaved broccoli & cauliflower. Had some marshmallows as a treat. Yum.

I'm shopping farmer's markets three and four times a week, so I'm eating more fresh produce (I would be anyway - tis the season) and local meats and cheeses, and digging through my cookbooks for new ways to eat eggplant and ground turkey.

When I order out, it's usually a pizza. Comfort food city.
