Filipino Fast Food chain.

So far after my 2 trips there, long drive through lines. The fried chicken is really good, not as spicy as Popeye's but much better than KFC.

The burgers are so so, inferior or maybe on par with McD. The pasta dishes are comfort food in Philippines.

It's fast food, good for quick meal.

It's not a new fast food chain. It started in the Philippines in the 70's and came to the US in the late 90s.

I haven't been to one in many many years.

Yes, it’s been in the US for many years. I’ve seen them in areas with large Filipino populations (Eagle Rock - Los Angeles, Union City, CA). I’ve eaten at them on several occasions.

Next time I am craving spaghetti with hot dogs, I may give it a try.

Exactly... an acquired taste alright! Even the burgers have a sweetness to them, I think sugar or ketchup may be added to the meat. But the chicken is pretty danged good.

We’ve had one in VA Beach for a while too. It’s always packed.

If you have never had Filipino spaghetti sauce, you are in for a shock. It is extremely sweet. Adding hot dogs, andouille sausage, and the like did nothing to offset it.

A friend gave me 2 - 1 kg bags of Del Monte Filipino style Spaghetti Sauce that they were selling at 99 Only. It was one of the worst tasting stuff that we had. I added anything to kill the sweetness but was unsuccessful. The second bag went to the food pantry.

================================================== ===

Jollibee has good chicken. Their SPICY chicken is quite simply the BEST spicy chicken I have had including Popeye's. There is a layer of spicy hot between the skin and the chicken.

Another thing that I like is that you can substitute pineapple juice for a soda in their combos.

Do realize that their menus are NOT the same across the country. Most of the California and Nevada stores sell a full menu. Some of the Manhattan stores carry ONLY fried chicken.

================================================== ====

In many markets (including the locations in Nevada, California and The Philippines), Jollibee is generally accompanied with two other Filipino chains - Chowking and Red Ribbon Bakery. Chowking is one of the worst Asian fast food chains. They are pretty terrible across the board. Red Ribbon is really quite good but not as good as Hippo Bakery (Mitsuwa Marketplace) and Tour de Jours.

================================================== =====

One more thing. Any Jollibee store will be among the loudest fast food places you will ever visit. Jollibee is the "happy restaurant" where all the Filipino families gather and have a lot of birthday parties. It is a fun place but NOT if you want a real quiet dinner.

I just saw a Jollibee's on ActionKid's YouTube channel which features the "Little Manila" in NYC. Although he didn't eat during this video, he did recommend it (from prior visits).

The burgers wasn't any special, fries are sort of McD style. The spaghetti is simple comfort food. I think the fried chicken is the best and the peach pies.

Spaghetti and hot dogs is good. I add the cooked cut up hot dogs to my spaghetti and pour my homemade Marinara on top, and mix well. If you ever watched Big Bang Theory that's Sheldon Coopers favorite Italian dinner.
