I’ll eat ice cream any time. I don’t buy it often though, because I don’t need the calories. I also drink cold soda during the winter. Ditto cold water from my Brita pitcher.
There are lots of cold dishes especially fermented stuff that you eat cold year around.
Also I love eating cold meats like antipasta, canned or preserved olives, and cheeses. Then there's also sushi, who doesn't love to eat cold raw fish and sushi.
Our German friends drink out in the woods with a bonfire and have their beer "poked" with a red-hot poker during their annual Bock Fest towards the end of winter.
We both came from farming country where families ate heavy, warm meals all year 'round. Meat, potatoes and vegetables. They were not big salad eaters. But over time we began eating lighter meals in the warmer months which meant more seasonal eating and more whole meal salads in the summer.
We do drink hot coffee all year and I drink a lot of iced tea in the summer and usually warm tea in the winter. DH drinks cold milk all year 'round.
I wouldn't turn down a cold dessert any time of year but do have a number of warm ones I can serve in the winter. Warm nutty apple cake with caramel sauce and whipped cream, anyone?
I don't as much but it depends what it is. Just like I don't crave things like stew and soups in the summer, even if the AC is on and it's chilly at home. Some foods just say "cozy" more than others, and some say "cool" more than others. I don't eat ice cream as much in winter cause it makes me cold even at home.
The weirdest "rule" about this was at an Italian restaurant/pizza restaurant in the town I used to live in. After we had dinner I asked for coffee, and the waitress said "oh, we don't serve coffee in the summer". I wanted to ask if they refrain from serving cold drinks in winter, but I suspect the answer would have been "no".
There are some seasonally available foods and some holiday foods, but other than that, my family eats the same sorts of things year round.
