Before The Covid, Nando's (Portuguese/South African peri-peri chicken) used to serve unlimited self-serve Dole Whip as dessert, the same Dole Whip Disney World still serves. It was really good! Then they stopped, for reasons we're not allowed to bring up here, as the dispenser/nozzle was public.

Well, now it's 2023, and I still don't see any Nando's restaurant serving the dessert. That's not good! While my curiosity about their spicy chicken got me in the door, their Dole Whip kept me there. So it's a shame that it's gone.

Was there some kind of a licensing agreement Nando's had with Disney, giving them the ability to sell it? Did they terminate the agreement? Or was The Covid the reason for stopping it, then not bringing it back to save money?

Knowledgeable minds, please share with inquiring minds.

Dole whip has been picked up by a lot of local ice cream shops in the past few years--if you search for "dole whip (or pineapple soft serve) near me" you'll find places.

Dole whip started in Hawaii; Dole was a major pineapple grower.

I would assume it was they (Nando's) either don't want to carry the item due to costs. It could be the licensing is too much and they never recovered enough from COVID to afford it. Or they could have looked at the numbers and realized the product didn't add enough revenue.

A lot of places have been able to forcedly shift customer expectations with the COVID/inflation turmoil. With shifting generational bases they can take out products older customers desired but won't purchase at inflated prices. It's usually followed by larger rebranding fully targeting the younger more willing to spend generations.

I took noticed Dole Whip is becoming more available. They even have it at some major grocery chains so it's not super exclusive anymore.

And you might look for a more generic name; Dole is a brand of pineapple. A place near me just calls it "crushed pineapple in Cool Whip."

Isn't this something you should ask in whatever local forum that applies?

How many Nando's locations are there in the US anyway? Last i looked they had like 15 or so total in the DC and Chicago areas and that's it.
