Also these little candies we would buy at the drug store for a penny called Squirrel Nut. Kind of chewy caramel with nuts in it. I am not that old but I was blessed growing up to be able to still go buy penny candy!
Our local Wal Mart finally got some Hydrox in a couple of weeks ago so we bought 2 packages since I knew they were a limited item. They don't taste like they did when I was growing up eating them. My kids don't even like them and asked me what the big deal was about them. Ate them plain, dunked in milk, twisted apart nope they didn't satisfy my childhood memory.

Now the link Buckhead provided to get the Squirrel Nut candies still tasted the same when we ordered them. My kids DO like those I seem to remember them being a bit larger back in the day though. Thanks again Buckhead for what the 3rd or 4th time?

My grandmother made a polish coffee cake that was to die for. Unfortunately she took the recipe with her when she passed. My Aunt has attempted to recreate it but hers tastes like a brick.

Jello pudding pops, why they stopped selling these things I will never understand.

Every now and then, I just miss a good old fashioned greasy hamburger on a bun.

My memere (grandmother) used to make the best chicken wings. Everyone tries to make them but they are just not as good. Which is funny because they were just wings, a pat of butter on each, and a lot of mrs. dash and salt. cooked low and slow. I think most of my relatives just try to cook them too fast so the skin doesn't get nice and crispy like memere's did.

she also made the best beef potato and carrots (roasted chuck).

And the best american chop suey.

She always started cooking dinner around 11 am and it was done around 3pm. She HAD to eat at 5pm. any later and watch out.

I miss her

They don't sell them anymore?

Are they not the same as a fudgesicle?

I loved the jello pudding pops too.

No, Jello Pudding Pops came out in the 80's (with lots of Bill Cosby commercials) and were different from fudgecicles, which were out in at least the 70's when I was little.

Hey, did anyone else call them fudgicles?
Fudge-ick-ulls

Was it a Philly-area thing?

They did reintroduce Jello Pudding Pops a couple of years ago and believe me, I tried to keep them in business lol but apparently I was the only one. What's really gross is that here in my office there is still a box in the freezer. Don't know why we haven't tossed them as they are no good anymore but they are still in there.
