Anybody here remember Boston Market when it was still Boston Chicken? Nice simple menu. Rotisserie chicken, just rotisserie chicken, and tons of the best freshly made side items you could want. Damn, I miss those side items. Real mashed potatoes, with the bits of potato skin in it. Not the pasty instant potatoes Boston Market serves today.Anybody else miss it?

yep, I totally agree: we loved it then, but haven't eaten at one in years. When we were still in NM, we would go to one of the Sam's for shopping. There was a Boston Market right there. We tried it several times, is just wasn't anything like the one we loved in Texas.

Yeah, the Boston Market near me closed about four years ago. Honestly I don't even miss it. At least not the way it was run at that time. But I am nostalgic for Boston Chicken as it was in the early 1990s. I think they really goofed up when they changed the name to Boston Market. They seriously lost their focus.
I can't remember the name then in the late 1990's when we ate there. It was an one-time visit while in California - haven't eaten at one since. I can envision that their chicken is tasty.
Yes, I do. However, I'm pretty sure their mashed potatoes are still real, not instant.
I don't know about that. Maybe they do it different in different parts of the country. But here in California I'm pretty sure those are not freshly made mashed potatoes. It's sure not what I remember it tasting like in the Boston Chicken days.
I noticed a big change in the quality of their side items in the early 2000s. So far as I can tell every side item on their menu today, could come out of a can, or from a pre-package. Except maybe the steamed vegetables. Boston Chicken made everything fresh in the store. I know that for a fact.
We miss it terribly and we only had it once on a road trip through Boston. We found the quality excellent. I still remember the cranberry orange, glazed carrots, squash, wonderful potatoes.
When I found out the Boston Market across the border in Buffalo was supposedly the same place with a new name, I raced over there and was SOOOOOO disappointed to just see a sandwich counter and no little side dishes or even chicken.

Yes, I still called it Boston Chicken for a long time afterward.
I don't know if my tastes have changed or it's just the one near where I live now, but the last few times I went, I was disappointed with the food.
Do like the cornbread, though.
The name was changed to Boston Market in 1995. I don't think your tastes changed. The quality went way downhill after the name change.
