I got my small George Foreman grill in 2003 when I was going to college. I survived on grilled cheese sandwiches in college, so I used the grill several times a day every day. It was still going strong after I got married and had a child. We use it instead of a toaster to toast bread to eat with hummus, grill up paninis, make quesadillas, and the list goes on. We used it at least 3 or 4 times a week. I am sad to say it finally gave up today, 12 years after I got it. I will buy a new one, but I am not sure we will love it as much because the reviews I read all make it seem like they are made much more cheaply nowadays.

I am sad when any of my old, quality appliances quit. I hope to never have to replace my plain white, top loading washer with a real agitator that does a great job cleaning my clothes with a brightly colored, front loaded behemoth that that takes over an hour to churn out clothes that smell like the towel you used after the pool and left on the floor wet for a few days. I also love my super awesome, harvest gold hand mixer that my mom received second-hand from a church friend and then passed it to me. I don't want the huge, standing mixer that could mix enough batter for 3 wedding cakes, but is only used once every 2 years to make one cup cake.

We have a Griddler not a G. Foreman but they are similar I am thinking. How long they last to me depends on how much use they get, just like toaster ovens. Our Griddler is about 3 years old. I love it, use it, even in the summer about once a week and it has the pop out grills that are dishwasher safe plus comes with the tool to clean the grills with as not to scratch them. Still, ours is so grimmy looking. I guess no one else really cares though. Anyway, I will replace it in a year of so just cause of the way it looks. Otherwise it is great.

Now our toaster oven is something else: like the griddler I use my toaster oven constantly. I roast veggies in it, heat things, of course use it for toast, etc. It is gross looking and only 2 years old. I just ordered a new one yesterday. Not only because of the looks of the thing, but I have never been thrilled with it.

I have a Breville pannini press that can be used as a contact grill. It works like it's new and it's six years old.
