I like to say that there is nothing I will not eat, but I will not eat a bowl of junk cereal. I do eat, regularly, plain old unadulterated flakes made from wheat, and shredded wheat is OK, but that's it. I'll skip breakfast or eat a slice of white bread, before I'll eat cereal from a box with a cartoon character on it, or any cereal made from rice or corn.
Mini-wheats all varieties, raisin bran, frosted flakes, fruit loops, Cinnamon Life, Banana Nut Crunch, frosted rice Krispies, Lucky Charms, Blueberry Morning, Cranberry almond crunch, maple pecan crunch, and wheat germ too! OKAY... This thread is making me hungry...I gotta go get a bowl of cereal right now!!! Hmmm...what will I have? How in the world can I decide???
Has anyone else noticed the near disappearance of Bran Flakes? My main supermarket chain does not stock ANY brand of Bran Flakes. WalMart has a place on their shelf for Bran Flakes, but it usually remains empty and unstocked for months at a time. The generic Sav-a-Lot is now the only store in town that has Bran Flakes, and they have only their house brand, which is fine, because they are half the price of the name brands. WalMart has Raisin Bran on the shelf, but who wants their old hard stale raisins and extra sugar?
Try Target. I could swear I saw them there not too long ago. I want to say it was Kellog's Bran Flakes. I could be wrong, but I have seen them somewhere recently.
I love Cheerios, Life Cereal, and (haven't eaten it in ages) Fruity Pebbles.
There was another "Rice Krispies" kind of cereal in the 60s that I sorely missed, but they stopped making it. It had an Asian kid figure on the box - does anyone remember that cereal?
Rice Crispies. and if that's not available, i'll get the generic brand. something about plain cereal just appeals to me.
