Had a 'debate' with someone the other day about how long to keep food in the fridge. I bought a Subway sandwich and only ate half. Put the other half in the fridge and ate it for lunch two days later. Lettuce was wilty and I picked it off, but otherwise not bad. She was grossed out at the thought. Am I crazy? I do the same with some other takeouts (like Pei Wei)...I thought it was okay to keep stuff for a couple days...a week I think is too long.

If my crew doesnt eat it after 48 hours, out it goes(cooked food)!
Too many years in the restaurant biz, and knowing how bacteria and pathogens can grow, even under refrigeration

Sounds good to me!! I'm not good with leftovers ...I admit. Long as your fridge is keeping it under say 38* I would say 2 0r 3 days is safe. This is assuming you didn't leave it in hot car or kitchen counter for a couple hours before!!

I think it was probably fine. Texture-wise... I would not have eaten it. I get them with mayo and all on it and I imagine the lettuce would have been nasty and the bread part would have been all nasty and slimy...

Sounds fine to me! I think it depends on the ingredients though. Sometimes the bread can get soggy, like if the sandwhich has tomatoes on it. I throw them away (or don't get them) if I'm not going to eat the sandwhich right away.

Under refrigeration...and if things are thawed and re-frozen. Not a good idea.

Most leftover foods should be consumed within three to four days. This says ....VV...I'm sure you could find one that says three weeks or ten minutes!

Proper storage of leftovers

I don't get mayo or anything other than maybe oil and vinegar on my subs, then add the mayo on what I'm eating....I move the veggies that get soggy over to the part I'm eating ...a couple days should be fine as long as not leaving out as said before...do not like slimy things on my sammies....

I dont usually refreeze stuff just put in fridge for later. I dont get tomatoes for that very reason. If the bread is soggy I toss it.
