Small amounts of a light condiment called "crema" is added to really hearty/spicy foods sometimes, but not always. It's not as thick and rich as what we think of as sour cream.
YES!!! I never had any "sour" cream in Mexico. I think it's A-mexican food.
Seems to me that everybody is missing the point here.
Is it Mexican with sour cream? WHO CARES?
400 pounds (unless you're exaggerating) is the issue that needs to be addressed.
Well, suuure if we were on the diet and exercise forum (do we even have one?)> But we're on the food forum so food it is!

Hmmm... I thought authentic Mexican food relied on a hefty application of Tapatio sauce. I'll pass on the white foods... except for white cheddar or cauliflower.
Kinkytoes: A-mexican food... **L**

I have stayed with friends in Mexico in their private residence. Never did I see sour cream at a meal. Everything was made from scratch every day. Corn was hand ground and salsa made fresh. Refried beans every day from dry pinto beans. They just didn't use sour cream on anything.
Sour cream is bad enough, but when gabachos pour RANCH all over their Mexican food, I hurl up everything I've ever eaten.
Note to the OP: Guacamole doesn't give her GIRD, 400 pounds gives her GIRD.
I've never even heard of that. weird.
