One less meat eater means more meat for me. I'm going to go out of my way to grill some big damn steaks on Earth Day. We are omnivores... that means we eat both... I support that.
I am eating green by way of the t-bone from the steer that ate grass, grain, etc... So in effect I'm a vegan by proxy!!
No? damn I thought it might work. I guess I will have to go to confession on Saturday and ask for absolution for lusting after and coveting a piece of juicy, fat laden Kobe beef.
Jokes aside, a United Nations report, released by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) on 29 November 2006, "Livestock's Long Shadow", states that the livestock sector produces more greenhouse gasses than all the cars, boats, planes and trains in the world COMBINED.
An April 2008 inventory report of emissions in the United States, by The United States Environmental Protection Agency[7] found "In 2006, emissions sources contained within the Agricultural Chapters were responsible for emissions of … 6 percent of total U.S. greenhouse gas emissions." Quoted from Wickipedia's Livestock Long Shadow.
Note the bold.
I also find it interesting the air quality over large citys vs. out here in w.KS where there is more livestock than people and transportation, combined.

I'm with you. Gimme that bacon wrapped 8oz filet grilled medium rare. I'll eat "green", salad, broccolli to go along with my steak.

Who's joking? We as a species were meat eaters long before there was an Earth Day and we'll be meat eaters long after.
The problem isn't with the animals or eating meat (besides the obvious moral/philosophical choices) but in how it is grown/raised. I agree that all meat should be grazed and, for one, am willing to accept the subsequent increase in price. There are many practices in the food industry I don't agree with but that isn't going to stop me from eating.

Sure, you are talking about smog (carbon dioxide). Methane (released from cow farts and burps) is 30 times more potent (gram for gram) than carbon dioxide.

I had to look it up, but smog is not all carbon dioxide, far from it. I also don't think the methane from cow farts is the problem. I'm have'n fun w/this as I hope you are too. But that is not where the methane problems come from, that is also not the major problem.
What do we breath out? co2? What does a car emit? co?
Are vegetarians the reason why we have global warming? We all know what happens when we eat beans! have'n fun w/ya Random. Totally a joke. My wife is the reason for the ozone problem.
