Obviously traditional, typical dishes are usually mastered where they were created (e.g. sushi in Japan), but sometimes one can also have delicious food at a place where the best dish was the least expected.
So, what is the best dish you have ever had in a foreign country?
The best meal was actually the most memorable because of the location. Shrimp creole on the beach at Mary's Boon in SXM. We were the only ones there and it was perfect as we finished dinner during the sunset. Spectacular!
Well, for me the U.S is foreign, so I'd say a cross between Cajun Seafood Pasta, and Pulled Pork Po' Boys. Mind you, the Mexican food in Mexico was pretty darn good, but the size of the Maragarita means I can't recall what we actually ate. (We were only there for a day).
Real haggis in Scotland. It looked gross, and the description of its contents is gross, but it smelled yummy and once I tasted it, it was absolutely addictive. I've been craving haggis ever since.
Green chicken curry in Thailand, with a nice tall Singha on the side.
