In the interest of Customer satisfaction, Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to replace all four wheels free of charge (parts and labor) under the terms of this program.
Over time the clear coat may peel away from the PVD layer and result in poor wheel appearance.
Wish that I could keep them, nothing wrong with them at this time. I have the option of two different wheels, both look great, just can't make up my mind which would look the best on the car.
I got 4 new chrome rims/wheels from GM. Under warranty.
The chrome was peeling in areas on rim. After two winters in snow/salt country.
What did they give me as replacement? The same exact wheel/rims. So in a couple of years the same issue could arise - and at that time - the vehicle would be out of warranty. Too late then.
Me, I took the new warranty rims and placed them in storage for when I sell or trade vehicle. I then bought steel rims and wheel covers for daily use. No issues with them.

It's also been an issue on Ford Edge's with the clad chrome wheels. The clear coat on the lip of the rim fails and they wind up looking like crap. Ford did issue a TSB but not a recall. I'm lucky because my best friend owns the dealership where we buy our Fords from so my Edge wheels were changed out at no cost to me. I also read about the issue with the Fusion wheels on a Ford owners forum and questioned my friend about it (we own a 2015 Fusion Titanium) and he didn't have a clue. He made a quick call to his service manager and confirmed this recall. My car has the black chrome wheels and that's what I'll have replaced. I already told him I want my old wheels back. I intend on buying another set of tires and tpm monitors and use them in the winter. He said that I can't have the old wheels back but I'm certain he'll give in. He always does.
BTW if your car came equipped with the 18" Goodyear LS-2's, tire rack has a great deal on them. If your have them and are happy with their performance, I would grab a set.

Probably not as the dealership has to return to wheels to Ford in order to get paid for the warranty work

You would be surprised. My buddy works at a dealer. He says all warranty parts go in a pile. IF the manufacturer wants the part for some reason (usually if they suspect fraudulent claims) otherwise they say a service comes by and picks it all up.
They also have a pile where aftermarket stuff put on by previous owners crisp gets tossed.

Agreed. Based on average sales figures, Ford probably sold somewhere near 800 thousand fusions over the past three years. If the recall only involves half of them that would be 400 thousand or so cars. 400 thousand X 4 equals 1.6 million wheels which I'm certain that Ford does not want shipped back to them. I'll ask my buddy to confirm but I'm sure you're right.
