I was wondering how common it is to find houses with basements in Ft. Collins. Here in Iowa, I'd say that basements are pretty common, especially with older houses. Are basements something that many houses include in Ft. Collins? If so, are they common in newer homes as well as older ones? Thanks in advance for any input.

Most homes have basements. That said, some newer homes, particularly in some more entry-level priice points ARE built on slabs, and some very old homes might have a crawlspace or cellar. That said, 90%+ homes will have a basement.

One thing I've noticed is that, at least in old town part of Fort Collins they include basement square footage when adervertising a house. Other places I've lived that was rarely done.

I would say most if not all include the square footage of the basement and then they will seperate finished sq ft compared to unfinished. Most all houses have basements here it is very common.

It is just on most (but not all) the web sites, (colorado homes, remax, etc,) it is not split out. So it can make it a little difficult to that initial evaluation.
