This year I am running my A/C all 12 months. On a typical year, you will need A/C 10 months.

This year 12 months, except for the two days we had to turn on the heat.

I just moved into my new apartment about a week ago and I haven't had the air on once. It's 2:00 in the afternoon and it's 75 degrees. I hope I don't need to turn it on until April or May. Not likely, though.

Yeah, and a heating system is not needed in Siberia any time of year either, but all the sane people have them.

first year in FL, and we have had like 4 days off from AC in a row so far, been trying hard not to run it, but going an entire month is not going to happen so far.

Today is February 6, and I had my AC on today... not because it was hot, but because today was rainy and moist, and turning on the AC was the only way to dehumidify the place so it didn't smell 'wet'.

Which is a part of the decision of course. Today's forecast was a high of 75 and a low of 68. That low of 68 is obviously 2:30 AM or somesuch. That high of 75, while normally considered a cool temperature, was accompanied by dampness and suckitude. Yeah, one could live without A/C in this scenario, but you'll want it.

Short version: You're gonna want A/C down here, and you may need it at any point during the year. If it's dry and cool, then you can open all your windows and thank your lucky stars that you live in paradise. If it's damn and warm, then it's war against ankle-biting mosquitos (they're STILL out this time of year) and general nastitude.

You have to be either really poor or really nuts not to run your A/C at least 10 months out of the year. As someone else mentioned, even at 75 degrees you can have full humidity which will cause mold and mildew to develop in your home. Any carpet, rugs, or things made of wood or cloth will rot.
