Hello everyone,
I am a 23 year old single male who is looking to move to Ft. Lauderdale. I am looking for an apartment that is affordable but also nice. Newer is preferable but I do know that with my max budget of $1100 a month, this may be unrealistic. I have been looking into Port Royale and heard good things about the community and the apartments however I thought I would ask everyone here if they have any suggestions. I am not oppossed to living outside of Ft. Lauderdale, just looking for the most "bang per buck." Thank you for taking the time to read this and hopefully you will leave me some suggestions
!

Port Royale is a good choice for most bang for the buck. You can probably get a 1BR unit for around $1000. I wouldn't call them super nice or anything, but they are decent units. The negatives of Port Royale is that the units are small and walls are paper thing, so you hear the neighbors. There are a ton of dogs living there too so watch where you step. The positives are that most of the residents are young and in their 20's. You are pretty close to the beach too.

Will you be working in Ft Lauderdale?
If you'll be commuting there for work.. it makes a difference as far as your options.

I work at the Atlantech Tower (ATT Tower in Ft.Lauderdale) which is currently a 30-45min drive from where I live.

Port Royale is super excelent for the price. A very private prime address and gated location , minutes to the beach and Fort lauderdale night life, ideal for a young guy like you , Sethgardner. there is a large young crowd leasing in thaty complex and I am sure you will love it. The guy who works in the leasing office is very nice, professional , dilligent and very helpfull.

Has anyone heard of anything about Waterford Park in Lauderhill? I was looking them up and it seems like they are really nice apartment/town homes.

I am not familiar with that specific property, but I am very familiar with that area of Lauderhill. I would stay away. That is an area that was nice a few decades ago, but is now becoming populated by Section 8 housing recipients. The University Drive corridor in Sunrise/Lauderhill/Tamarac (which is adjacent to Waterford Park) is not a desirable area for a young professional in your early twenties.

I would look at Residence at Bayview across US1 of Port Royale. It's managed by Equity residential like Port Royal. It is a tad more expensive but has better amenities and way nearer in my opinion. You get access to Port Royal as well. Our lease is up and they want to raise our rent approximately $200 though. The tower you work in is a block south i believe!?

Thank you all for the advice, I actually decided to look a bit more north (Boynton Beach) because I could get more value per dollar than I could in Fort Lauderdale. I am currently looking into Renaissance Commons so if you have any information on them please feel free to share!
