We're moving to South Florida. Don't care much for Miami, but wish to be a drive away for recreational purposes. Would love to find an affordable rental in a safe neighborhood. Rental Home single family, Condo, Town house, and last choice would be a rental community. We love the arts, spend a lot of time NYC, but live in NJ. Looking for diverse and liberal community. Not interested in living in an ultra conservative environment. We want to be able to walk around and feel safe doing it. Family oriented neighborhood that is clean and safe, away from bad areas. Does not have to be uppity and affluent, but any suggestions on nice clean safe area would be great!!!

artsy tho? hmmmmm, gonna be hard-pressed to find that in south FL. .. perhaps downtown Delray Beach?

Liberal
Artsy
Affordable
Family oriented
clean and safe
away from bad areas.

Good luck on that. If you wanted to choose 3 out of 6 you might have better luck.
Liberal, affordable, and safe tend to be mutually exclusive.

The mindset of liberal is more accepting, and there are plenty of people who are not very safe that are ready to gravitate to "accepting" areas. The only exclusivity that seems to work to limit this somewhat is a high cost of living. Gayborhoods are somewhat more accepting but property cost tends to go up fairly fast in direct proportion to desirability and safety.

I don't think any such place exists. Las Olas is as close as it gets.

What about Lake Worth Florida? Liberal, artsy, affordable. Safe in some areas.

Really? Lake Worth is a dump. I avoid that place at all costs. There is nothing liberal or artsy there unless you consider pawn shops and check cashing stores liberal and artsy.
