I will be relocating to the area, staying with family member until I can find my own place.

Single female 48, how do I find a roommate around my age to split expenses for one of the luxury condos on the beach? Craigslist ad? I would like to avoid creepy people, 20 something kids, sex offenders, drama, and leaches. So I figure that rules out craigslist but hell there has to be other people in same situation looking for a roommate for upscale condo share. No idea where to find them though!

Cheryl

You might try Roommates.com. I have never tried them and do not know much about it except to say that someone I knew had used it and was happy.

That's a tough one Cheryl. I can't say Craigslist is the best option, it's become a very weird site.
If I hear of anything I will let you know! Is an option for a 1 bedroom feasible for a year until you meet people? Then possibly you could find the ideal location?

Hi SkiCheryl,

I read your post and decided to become a member to respond to it. I have been also considering a relocation to warmer beach town in Southern FL; and currently, focusing on Fort Lauderdale area. I have invested extensive amount of time on collecting information about locations in all around FL coastline, rents, life style, safety, affordability, and etc for the last 7 months. Like you, I also like living in luxury condos because what they offer appeals to me greatly. I realized the rents for luxury condos on the beach and the right location seem like beyond my limits. I personally would not like to stretch myself financially to such an extend currently. Last night, I suddenly ask myself "why do I not search if anyone would consider sharing a luxury condo?" Of course, it easier said than done but I came across your post here while just surfing through Craigslist and so many other rental sites.

I must say it is an interesting and quite an appealing idea: compromise on your space and privacy versus get to live at a place you desire.

Not sure if you have a job yet, but I would put the word out at work, I would not use craigslist.
