My female partner and I are looking into moving to Broward County with our young daughter. We are interested in an area that doesn't have to be super gay but would be easily accepting of a lesbian household. We are also interested in good schools for our daughter. Coral Springs looks like a possibility but we are not sure how gay-family friendly they are? Anyone have any thoughts or other suggestions?

I don’t think your family will face many obstacles in Coral Springs.

I think that most areas in Broward County are pretty accepting of non traditional families. My son has a friend who is the child of a lesbian mother. She and her partner attend all of his football games and neither of them have expressed that their son has any issues because his family is not typical. The mother and her partner are nice and the other parents on the team like both of them. They live in Weston. I live in Plantation.

I think you will find most areas are fairly liberal and welcoming. It will mostly come down to your personal preference among the neighborhoods. Coral Springs has some nice communities, and great parks and amenities. The deciding factor down here is commute distance. Where will you and your partner work?

I live in east Plantation and love it. I work in downtown Ft Lauderdale, and it's about a 20 minute commute for me, much better than being further out west.

Also, what type of home and community do you want? Newer tract home in HOA community (Weston, most of Coral Springs are in this category)? Or older, established non-HOA neighborhood that still has good schools and nice parks/amenities (East Plantation, Cooper City).

The best way to start is to come down and visit....

Wilton Manors is a wonderful city.

Coral Springs is nice, but a bit too much crime IMHO.

Most of the city officials in WM are gay and super nice.

Good luck!

I am not sure how the public schools are in Wilton Manors. The OP may need to look at private schools if they were to live there.

Wilton Mannors is too out there if you are raising a young daughter. Weekend fun yes ok. Coral Springs or Margate is good . Thats where I live near Turtle Creek . Great schools and our neighbors mind their business but are very friendly which is rare~ LOL

Wilton Manors and Victoria Park are two very gay friendly neighborhoods in Fort Lauderdale, and are nice to live near as surrounding neighborhoods are pretty much accepting. Galt Ocean area is a cool area and is zoned for the Bayview Avenue School, which is also a nice school. Find a real estate professional to help you meet your criteria. My partner and I have owned a condo on the Galt Ocean Mile and love it here. We have a wonderful realtor should you need a trustworthy person to guide you.
