Weston Hills is certainly nice. I wish I had the budget to live in Weston Hills. The lowest priced single family house right now is $520k and it's a 3 bedroom. Some day, one day...

Ace, see my post above re the genius of the Weston developers. All of Weston was designed so that no matter where you are, there will always be an even nicer place. If you were in Weston Hills, you'd be eyeing the Windmills . The reality really is though that it's all a nice and pleasant place to live and send your kids to school.

What happens if you live in Windmill Reserve? Do you explode?

You move up to 2 acres and dream of being on an estate in Palm Beach directly on the ocean...

After that it's all about power

After being here 4 weeks, I think it is more seriously about choosing between lifestyles.

That makes a house search almost a philosophical debate as much as a financial one.

That's why I figure I will rent until I acclimate to what seems to "feel more right".

Unfortunately, renting a decent place equals a payment on a $400,000 mortgage, sans insurance and prop taxes.

You pay a lot for sunshine.

casual you can find decent rents, but again it will depend on what you are willing to put up with.

I think you are doing the right thing. Rent for a year and keep looking for a bargain. You don't have to wait for year for search. You can buy in 6 months and allow the seller to occupy the property for 6 months. Don't limit yourself to a short time window for house search. Correctly priced homes go fast even in Weston.

You do know that some of the houses in WHCC are exactly the same as the ones in Savanna, The Meadows, and The Ridges right? I wouldn't pay more to live in WHCC unless I could actually afford one of the custom built houses in there.
