Greetings:

Been lazy since I moved to Brickell and really do need to get out of my hood and check out FtL and spend a couple of nights there.

Which area of Las Olas is the more happening area during the evening, particularly where locals hang out--on/close to the beach OR closer to El Camino Real/Lou Bossi....if the latter, I was thinking of staying at Hyatt Centric--would this be a good choice, in terms of walkability at night (I realize I would probably need to take an Uber to get to the beach during the day.)

Is there another area I should consider, such as Lauderdale by the Sea--or would this be a good choice for me....how would this area compare or differ vs Delray Beach or WPB--younger crowd, older crowd, different vibe, etc....just trying to get a different feel from where I am now for a Thursday and Friday night.

Thanks

Hey elchevere!

We moved from brickell a few months ago up to fort Lauderdale (weston).

Have been visiting las olas alot and find that any area on east las ola's, between se 2nd and se 17th is very active. Think south miami ave in brickell near BCC.

Sister in law stayed at the centric 2 months ago. Absolutely loved it. Beautiful hotel and right in the middle of everything.

Las olas is definitely younger than delray and WPB. Not as party centric as miami, but very very close. Delray is very laid back, with nice restaurants and calm beaches.

Hope that helps!

The Dalmar hotel is very new and nice, with the Sparrow rooftop bar (25th floor) and The Terrace Grill. From Dalmar, you can venture by foot into Flagler Village - Tophat Deli, Henry's Sandwich Station, Invasive Species brewery, Circle House Coffee, Glitch bar, Wells Coffee, Notorious Creamery, Chick'nCone, Batch Cookies, Heritage (very good Italian restaurant), Sistrunk Market which includes Hoffner brewery. These are all good places - you better be hungry and/or thirsty.

Then there is Victoria Park - Doc B's, Foxy Brown, Sip Java.

And of course from Dalmar you can also explore Las Olas by foot. Or Himarshee - among notable places there you will have the OB House (Original Breakfast House) and Apothecary 330 with really good drinks. Pizzacraft and Anthony's pronto (the best crispy chicken sandwich EVER).

Thanks Pierre and Ruski....Dalmar looks nicer but I have status with Hyatt and it also looks like it might be a slightly closer walk to more “happening” spots (El Camino??) at night....but I’m open to being corrected/convinced otherwise. I just need a change for a night or two—probably a Thursday and Friday night ....I’ve been to Delray quite a few times—I call it Jersey Shore South...lol.

I’m familiar with Eddie V’s—they had 2 in San Diego.

Dalmar has all of its food and beverage outlets closed.

I like the new Hyatt. My BFF has stayed there twice.

Make sure you check out the new Johnny Vs (I think that is the name, it is on the opposite end of the entrance to the Hyatt) and Salt7 on the New River. Salt7 is really hopping right now.

Louie Bossi at this point is an iconic centerpiece to Las Olas. It is busy seven nights a week.

Lobster Bar has a good crowd as does the Piazza. I have only been to The Rooftop a couple of times because it is sort of out of the way. The Wharf has reopened but it is a twenty something crowd.

Elbo Room and Spazio get a good crowd on Sundays.

It is probably 5-8 minutes to walk from Dalmar to El Camino. I was under impression that the Sparrow rooftop bar at Dalmar was open because I have been seeing their posts on Instagram. Actually I also saw The Terrace Grill posting on Instagram saying that they were reopening.

Stop by the Sienna art gallery on Las Olas and say hi to my friend Andrey who is the owner. Oh yeah, my name is Andrey too.

No wonder so many people get confused on this board.

Weston is, going off both city centers, at minimum, 23 miles west of Fort Lauderdale proper.

Weston isn’t a part of downtown Fort Lauderdale, and I only make that distinction because what you describe above is specifically downtown Fort Lauderdale, Las Olas, etc. then hyphenate Weston as if it is part of or close to the city center of Fort Lauderdale. I wouldn’t call almost 25 miles away “close”, nor would I say that residents of Weston are residents of Fort Lauderdale proper. “Broward County” would’ve made a lot more sense in that context, instead.

They are not one and the same. Perhaps you meant that Weston is part of the Fort Lauderdale MSA, which does not mean that Weston is close to the city center.
