I just had this discussion in another forum.

I'm in north FL. Have a 1700 sq. ft. home. $499 this past month, $449 each month, the two mos. prior.

Keep the thermostat about 76/78. Have a pool, but we are now only running the pool pump every-other-day as opposed to 24/7, as we used to do. Have an extra fridge. Have a deep freezer. Everything is electric.

I need to have the local electricity authorities come out and do an audit, mine is apparently much higher than most in the area. And I don't know why.

We are in South Florida and live in a 1200sq townhouse. Usually we keep it at about 72-75 degrees and our bill is between 100-125/mo

1600 sq feet, older, large irrigation system (nursery), very inefficient home (just discovered there is no insulation in walls!)....We keep it at 78 and bills are $325 in the summer/$175 in the winter.

dag,

we had a 2400 square foot house and it was 380 a month. You gotta get that insulation going cause that bill of yours is outrageous.
