Must visit places with a boat (Cape Coral, Fort Myers: renting, houses, neighborhood)

Hello! I have a home on a canal in Cape Coral and we are renting a boat for the first time. What are some 'must visit' places we should see and what are some good boat access restaurants?

Cabbage key inn is one of my favorite places to go by boat when i go to cayo costa it is very easy to get to only about a football field length of no wake zone. They have a dock hand that tells you where to dock and helps with lines

There are a bunch of restaurants close to you. Jimbo's, First Draft in CC. In North Fort Myers, Marinatown, Harbourside Grill and Tiki Bar (now called GatorZ), Cactus Jacks, Coconuts, Doratos Seafood Restaurant, Joe's Crab Shack in Fort Myers.

Jimbos and First Round draft are not even worth the ride down the canals, don't waste your time. Marinatown isn't terrible on the weekends, any other time it is dead and again not worth the trip up the river, depending on where you are specifically. Nauti Mermaid, RumRunners, The Joint, Run Agrounds all in the Cape, Bonita Bills is kind of a local hangout on Fort Myers Beach, Docs (FMB), Woodys in St. James City, Berts in Matlacha, The Lighthouse Restaurant in Punta Rassa.

Non food/drink places.... Cayo Costa, Boca Grande/Gasparilla, North Captiva, Cabbage Key, Useppa, Mound Key, Lovers Key is fun with a boat as are pretty much all the area beaches. Again a lot of this depends on what part of the "Caloosahatchee" area of the Cape you are in. If you are 45 minutes of no wake from the river, you probably don't want to bring the boat home, as it can take you as much as 2 hours each way to get to and from the Gulf.

I guess it does matter where your canal is . I love the nauti mermaid and rumrunners but i always go by car because I put in the matlacha side Berts, cabbage key , and lazy flamingo in Bokeelia are much easier for me.

Jimbo's prime ribs Friday and Sat night is very good. First round is a sports bar, nothing wrong with it. I like restaurants that are not too crowded. Gulf Harbour restaurants are very pricey.

There is not problem with them if you go by car. In my opinion they are not worth taking a boat to.
