How is the commute from Pine Island to Ft.Myers? I am still entertaining the possibility of relocating to Pine Island, but this is one question I have failed to ask.

Pine Island is roughly 20 miles long- so where on the island makes some difference in time to get anywhere.

I am in St. James City, I figure at least 30 - 45 minutes.

I should have been more precise.....is the traffic a nightmare once you get off the island and head to Ft Myers. A normal commute time for me would be leaving between 6 &7 a.m. and driving home between 330 & 5 pm.

Whether you think its a nightmare is relative to what you are used to now. I lived in MD, commuted to Wash D.C. 31 miles one way. 1.5 to 2 hours. When folks around here complain about traffic, I just have to smile and think this is nothing compared to what I was used to.
That said, have taken some friends to the airport in Ft. Myers at 6:30 a.m. during the week and the traffic is heavy going into Ft Myers, and heavy coming back in the afternoon, that was Veterans Parkway. When I say heavy, its not stop and go, just a lot more cars on the road at that time. Never really been in stop and go traffic, except one time on 75 going south to Naples during the winter season.

I used to commute from Winter Haven to Orlando on I-4. What could have been a 30-40 minute commute, could take up to 2 hours, as it could become like a parking lot. I'm not real familiar with the area, so I have no idea if the traffic patterns are similar....

I currently reside in Southern Illinois, and traffic jams are non-existent, unless there is an accident involving a semi.

Good question I recently purchased land in NW Cape and wondering the same thing. Beak Boater I am from MD as well and the traffic up here is a pain so I guess it will be much less stressful.

Thanks C

Our house is in the NW Cape, off Embers Parkway. No stress compared to MD traffic. Not sure were you lived in MD, but unless it was in Western MD, I know you had some traffic to contend with.
