I drove by the store that used to be "Sweet Bay" on Colonial Drive and noticed that it is now a "Winn Dixie" marketplace. I haven't ever shopped in a "Winn Dixie" and usually shop in the Publix market just a tiny bit closer to home. I guess I will have to stop in the new one and check it out. Does anyone have any opinion or experience on the new store?

At least in Cape Coral, the retained most of the same staff, so it's familiar faces. However, IMO, the Winn Dixie product is generally ranked lower than that of Publix, which has come in #3 in this Consumer Reports ranking:

I miss the Sweetbay!

Winn Dixie was the original brand before the tried to rebrand as sweet bay. The original SWFL grocers were publix, albertsons, Winn Dixie, Kash-n-karry, and food lion. Baileys and Jerry's are the grocers out on sanibel.

I thought Winn Dixie dropped the Marketplace format for good years ago prior to being acquired by Bi-Lo.

Sweetbay was the re-branded stores of Kash-N-Karry and owned by Delhaize Group, the owner of Food Lion.

I shop at Target most of the time. My Ben & Jerry's ice cream is $1 cheaper there, and Publix never seems to have ice cream on sale. Seriously!
