Looking to relocate to the Fort Myers/Cape Coral area. See a lot of nice homes for sale in Gateway. How's the school district? Elementary schools in particular. Any particular area anyone would recommend? DH will be working off Edison Ave in Fort Myers, myself at one of the hospitals in the area.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

Gateway is a 3,000 acre master-planned community with a wide range of housing options. There are 27 different neighborhoods within Gateway, some gated, some not. Prices range from just under $100K for a Villas at Gateway townhouse to $700K for a 5BR home at Cypress Links.

Gateway has its own K-8 charter school that is well regarded.

I would say avoid the charter schools in the area all together if you can, my children have been attending them for about 3 years now, and have had HORRIBLE experiences with it. There have been several times that I have had to call the principle about things the teachers are saying to the kids in my sons classes, not to mention that safety seems to be an issue at the charter schools. Schools in this area are not so good (we have done the public schools also for 3 years before the charter school).. the schools all seem to be behind the national norm, my son came here to learn in 2nd grade what he had already learned in 1st from Indiana.

im not too fond of the gateway area. its kind of out in its own little area just north of the airport. but the area has everything you would need from retail.
