I may be relocating to the Fort Wayne area for work in the next 2 months. I am wondering if anyone has reccomendations on desireable areas to live.

My wife and I are in our 30's with 2 kids 3 years old and 18 months. Looking for nice safe areas that are family oriented with stable home values. My price range is up to 325k.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

First of all, $325,000 will give you great options to search for a house! You definitely have that on your side!

I'll give you a rough breakdown of Fort Wayne. It is a city that is making a turn in the last decade. Population numbers are rising and there has been a resurgence of activity in the downtown area. While there are plenty of nice neighborhoods within the cities boundaries, there are also nice communities just outside of the boundaries as well. The southwest side is perhaps the most upscale. Subdivision after subdivision of $300,000 homes. The northwest and northeast side, as well as the small communities of Huntertown and Leo, is a little bit cheaper but still very nice. When you go north of Dupont Road, there are extremely nice subdivisions that may fit your budget. These areas are very desirable as well.

When you get to the southeast side, my advice is stay away. This is mainly where the crime is situated and it is the least developed out of all the cities neighborhoods. The east side of the city is also a little rundown in my opinion. New Haven has seen better days as well.

Hope this helps! To summarize, look for the southwest, west, northwest, north, northeast sides of Fort Wayne.
